LiONiL: Library Instruction Online for Information Literacy

Body Module 3: Searching for Articles in Online Databases

Selecting a database

Kraemer Family Library subscribes to over 150 databases, most of which provide access to articles. Some databases focus on a specific discipline while others cover multiple disciplines. The databases are listed and described on the Kraemer Family Library website. Most, but not all, databases contain partial or complete full-text article holdings.

For this exercise, toggle between screens using the tabs at the top of your browser.

1. Open the Kraemer Family Library home page, click on the link Select a Database. On this screen you can select a database by subject area, or you can use the alphabetical list to go to a specific database.

2. Select the subject listing for General Databases. Here you see a link to the database we will be looking at, Academic Search Premier, as well as many other databases that are multi-disciplinary in scope.
